Chocolate Covered Strawberries
So easy and so good...
Ingredients:
- 16 ounces milk chocolate chips
- 2 tablespoons shortening
- 1 pound fresh strawberries with leaves
- 8 oz white chocolate chips, optional
Directions:
1. Insert toothpicks into the tops of the strawberries.
2. In a double boiler, melt the milk chocolate and shortening, stirring occasionally until smooth. Holding them by the toothpicks, dip the strawberries into the chocolate mixture.
3. Turn the strawberries upside down and insert the toothpick into styrofoam for the chocolate to cool.
4. For a fancier look: Melt white chocolate chips, drizzle over the strawberries, and reinsert in styrofoam to cool.

Thank you for the update. Just discovered your blog and am delighted. My children and I have been out the last 2 summers for berries and look forward to heading out again this week to get this year's bounty.
